Aquaba - Find truth in adventure

Upgrading...

We are upgrading to movable type 3, Aquaba is growing and we thought it’ll be nice to treat our little baby to a Christmas present. Another reason that we have decided to upgrade is because of MT 3 ability to curb comment spam. On our old version our span list was over 4000 entries long, and it just became a huge hastle deleting all the stupid comments every day.

We are only half way through the upgrade, we have the backend up and running but are in the process of installing our templates to get that good old Aquaba look back. Previous entries will be restored soon and a whole bunch of new and exciting ones are on the way. Please bare with us and look forward to a new sleeker Aquaba.

Letting Go

I broke up with my biatch a few weeks ago due to various disagreements in the relationship. We, fortunately, ended it on good terms. Seems we were headed in different directions and had different ideas about where things were headed (in other words, she wanted to tie my wild, free spirit ass down and get hitched).

It goes without saying that after being with someone for close on four years that you'll miss them at times. When youÕre in a relationship you get used to someone always being there for you. You go through "cold turkey" for the first while after a break up. Every time you needed to talk or felt lonely, that person was always there for you. Now he/she is gone and you are alone.

When you are in a relationship you often get into a comfort zone and begin to think that things will be that way forever. Even when you start to have doubts about the person you are with, you stick around anyway. Why? Because you are afraid of what might be waiting for you around the next blind corner. The days turn to weeks, which turn to months, which turn to years.

Often a feeling of guilt will accompany you in the relationship. "I can't leave her now. We've been together so long. It would be unfair to leave her now. She loves me so much. I don't want to hurt her. What will she do? She plans on marrying me. She's getting older. She's invested all this time in me, and now she's gonna be left on the shelf when she should be having babies."

Truth be told, it should end long before it ever gets to this stage. Guilt is no reason to stay with a person. It will breed animosity in the long run, and you will end up blaming your partner for holding you back from the life you could have led.

Many people start to become driven by the fear of being alone. Who will be there for you when you are lonely? Who will be there for you when you are down? This is also a bad excuse to stay with someone.

It is very common for people to stay together out guilt and fear. These are the two worst things to build a relationship, and far worse, a marriage on. It will end in a lot more heart ache and pain than if you had just been honest and ended it in the beginning, or when these feeling first revealed themselves. Sure, its gonna hurt for a while. ThatÕs natural. But there is truth in the old saying "Time heals". Given the time, you will get over it.

It is common for people to "get back together" within a few days or weeks of a break up. If you are going to get back with your partner, ask yourself a couple of questions first. Am I going back out of fear? Am I going back out of guilt? Is this the "cold turkey" talking? Just make sure you go back for the right reasons.

Even though it hurts in the beginning, it is often better to be strong and resist the temptation of running back. In you heart you will know if you are doing the right thing. Chances are you had doubts long before the "break up" happened.

It is very important to remember that there is a difference between "loving" someone and being "in love" with someone. We can only hide from ourselves for so long. Let go. Be honest with yourself and partner from the beginning. It will result in happiness for all parties concerned.

Playstation 2

Well I finally look the dive and bought myself a playstation 2. My original plan was to wait for the new slim playstation 2 and buy one of those but on Saturday my decision was completely impulse driven and I just did it.

There was a special at the toy store offering the satin silver addition playstation 2, tow games and a 8mb memory card. It was too much to resist, I bought the playstation and Need for Speed Underground 2.

Needless to say the whole of Saturday night was spent at home playing games. My buds came over and we hit NFS U2 the whole night. I have not seen one sunrise this year and this weekend I saw two, in a row. Friday night was a nig one, one of the best night IÕve had this year.

The playstation 2 is all that it is cracked up to be, its completely addictive and the controls are great, especially with the g-shock vibrate, I love it. NFS U2 is also a great game, great graphics, great game play and whatÕs fun, is that it is not easy, once you pass the first few levels the difficulty level takes a big jump.

One thing that does get to me with the PS2 is the load times. Anytime that you do anything, there is a load, and I do mean load, half the time you are playing, you are waiting for shit to load, bugs the crap out of me but hey, what can you do.

Too anyone out there wondering if they should take the plunge and get a PS2, go for it. If you are thinking of waiting for the PS3, its gonna be a while, Sony says only sometime in 2006. Buy the PS2 now, itÕs a great investment and will provide you with many, many hours of entertainment.

The End Of An Era

Today the death of Yasser Arafat was announced. Yasser Arafat was the president of the Palestinian Authority and the winner of the Nobel peace price so time ago.

IÕm am not a person who takes any interest in politics but what I do know about the Palestinian, Israeli conflict is, well, that there is indeed a conflict. IÕm not ignorant to the happenings of the world but to keep up with every conflict around the world would just take too much time.

With the death of Yasser Arafat a new era has begun, the Palestinian authority will select a new leader, which will indeed the influence the outcome of the conflict. Many Israelis are happy as so too, many Palestinian people are deeply hurt by the loss of their leader.

In some way I do believe that change is good, its not necessarily a good thing that change was brought about by the death of a person, but change none the less is a good thing. The future will indeed be interesting and hopefully peace will be the result.

Communism - Why?

It doesnÕt make any sense to me why anyone would want lo follow communism. My interest on this subject was sparked while watching a couple of documentaries on the History Channel a while back. I then read a couple of books on the subject.

Communism looks great on paper, but in practice it is one huge fuck up. Seems to me that the only people who thrive in communism are the dictators running the show. Everyone else suffers and starves. They are told that they are living like kings compared to the rest of the world, only they canÕt see for themselves. Why? Because they are not allowed to make any contact with the outside world (Self sufficiency and all you know).

There are many out there living in the free world that call themselves ŌleftistsÕ. What a bunch of wankers. They come up with arguments supporting their beliefs that make absolutely no sense. As soon as you say something intelligent to these morons they get hostile because they donÕt have an intelligent argument to support what they are saying. I canÕt believe these morons actually want communism to take over. I donÕt think they think far ahead enough to realise they will be living in squalor. Hate to break it to you buddies, but when have you ever seen the general population in commie countries living it up? Oh! ThatÕs right! You havenÕt

There are many ŌleftistÕ websites out there. All these pricks are so proud to be able to meet online with there wanker friends and talk trash to each other all day. I wonder if they realise that once there beloved communism takes over, they wonÕt be allowed internet access any more. No more free speech. Hell. With communism Š no more free thought either

Who wants to follow something where everything you ŌbelieveÕ is forced onto you, and if you donÕt ŌbelieveÕ you are never seen again.

Communism sets the human race back hundreds, if not thousands of years. Humans were given the ability to think for themselves. We improve ourselves through competition. It forces us to innovate. Think about it. The only place where the USSR had development during the cold war was in its weaponry. Why? Because it was in competition with the USA. The rest of its infrastructure went backwards. How would anybody be able to keep themselves motivated by following the Ōcommunist idealÕ. Why would I want to go off and become a doctor if I was going to get a salary the same as the street sweeper next door. If we were meant to be drones we would have been born bees (Their brains are too small to realise they are getting fucked).

Essentially, all you are in a communist country is a slave. You work for the commie dictator and his slave drivers. You believe what you are told to believe. You work where you are told to work. You do what you are told to do. No free speech. No free thinking. And if you donÕt obey you are beaten until you do, or you are dead.

The only reasonable conclusion I can come up with for commie supporters is as follows:

They are extremely poor and na•ve and feel that if every one else is also poor, then they must be rich They are jealous of what other people have accomplished in their lives and the only way to feel better is to drag everyone else down to their level. They have made a success of themselves but have decided that life is shitty, so they might as well live the way they feel (like shit). They are stupid! They genuinely believe that they wonÕt mind being poor, mindless drones as long as it is for the greater good of humanity. (To these people - remember! You donÕt miss something until it is gone).

In the history of communism it has never worked. Why do these retards believe that it will change now? IÕll tell you why. Because they think they are ŌspecialÕ. Sorry guys. ThereÕs no room for people being ŌspecialÕ in a commie state. No individualism remember!

To Zoo or not to Zoo

Ever since I was a little kid IÕve had a hate for zoos. And no, its not because IÕm scared of animals. In fact itÕs because I love animals too much.

I can still remember being a little tyke getting ready to go to the zoo for the first time. I was so excited to see all the wild animals. I also remember the disappointment I felt when I saw the animals for the first time. While all the other kids were saying ŅMommy, mommy look at the lions.Ó I was crying and saying ŅMommy, mommy the poor lions.Ó
I suppose this could have stemmed from me having seen free, wild lions before I had ever been to a zoo.

Needless to say I never went to a zoo again for many, many years. Instead I was lucky enough to be able to see as many wild animals as I wanted to at my parentsÕ holiday home out in the bush (bordering the Kruger National Park).

A couple of years ago I got talked into visiting a zoo again (by a woman, needless to say). ŅHow bad could it possibly be?Ó I thought. ŅMaybe it was just a childhood over reaction.Ó Well, I should never have gone! It made me absolutely sick to see these lions stuck in a little enclosure smaller than a childÕs bedroom with nowhere to run and nowhere to express themselves. The most excitement they had was being fed through a little hole in a steel door. Now this may be okay to many people, but if you have ever seen a real, wild, untamed lion in its natural habitat, I can pretty much guarantee you wouldnÕt feel the same. The lions you see in the zoo are pasty and unhealthy looking at best. They are nothing more than empty shells of what they could have been. It is easy to see that there wild, ferocious spirits have been trampled and broken through their captivity. How can we expect them to be the animals they are meant to be by shoving them in little enclosures, when in the wild they may cover up to 20 or 30 kilometers in a day?

My thoughts are not specific to lions. I feel this way about all animals kept in zoos, it is just that the lions had the biggest impact on me.

Now donÕt get me wrong. I do think there is a place in the world for zoos, but only in certain circumstances. Zoos should be reserved for endangered species only. Of course I donÕt think that animals that canÕt survive in the wild on their own should be left to die out, especially since itÕs probably our fault that they are endangered in the first place.

Many argue that all people of the world should be able to see the animals of the world. I have one thing to say. Bullshit. If you want to see a lion, go to Africa. If you want to see a moose, go to Canada. If you want to see a polar bear, go to the North Pole. If I were meant to see a tiger I would have been born in India. We make these creatures suffer for a lifetime just so we can have a quick gawk at them.

Animals are meant to live an adventure. Sure, many may die along the way, but would you rather live a lifetime in a captivity that you didnÕt choose, or for one day living wild and free.

SMS'ing

With the introduction of mobile phones along came the SMS Š Sort Message Service and along with the SMS came a whole new way of playing the game. We no longer need to prep our voices or rehearse our lines before making a move on a member of the opposite sex, just SMS them.

SMSÕing is the newest addition to our communication media and so the rules that govern it when playing the game are also relatively new but are based and the same rules as our other media. Knowing these rules can make the difference between getting her and loosing her. Below is a set of the most basic rules that govern the game in this arena.

Never reply right away Never repeat a message or send another with the same intention if there has been no reply Always be the last to send a message, keep the ball in your court (If presented with the opportunity) Let your personality come out, use actual words that you speak with, donÕt always write proper grammar and form. Avoid using the word ŅJustÓ Eg; I just want to check if you would like to go out. DonÕt rely entirely on sms as your only means of communication Never sms anyone during a date while sitting face to face

The great thing about smsÕs is that you can send them at any time with getting into trouble. You could send one late at night or early in the morning, if the person is a sleep they wont here it, if not, theyÕll get it. You could send smsÕs with lines like; to my last call of the day or to my first call of my day. These lines go down very well with women. They are also great if you are not in the mood for a conversation but need to maintain cordial communication with someone, a great and cheap way to perform "chick maintenance".

There are of course cons to sending an sms as opposed to a phone call. Lets list some of them;

You may be perceived as cheap, not wanting to make a phone call. It can be difficult to get your point across. To a degree it is impersonal If you are bad at spelling you could lose face You can never be sure the receiver has read the SMS You are very limited in message length (check out the txt lingo translator to maximize your word count)

A great way to test the waters is with an sms. You can tell a lot about the way a person feels about you be their responding sms. Response time is a good indicator. Now days many people have learned rule one, not to reply right away, so generally minus at leased 10 - 30 minuets from the response time to get an accurate number. The closer to zero the more they like you. Emoticons are a good indicator if a person likes you. The more of them that they use, the more they like you. The last but not leased dead give away of affection is the old good night sms. If you ever receive a good night or even good morning sms, you know that youÕve got her in the bag.

A great thing about smsÕs is that it allows us to be bolder with our intentions. It is always easier to write something and send it that to say it to a person. Take advantage of this, if you are shy by nature, let you emotions and true intentions shine through you smsÕs. Write the things that you want to say even if it is a little poem joke or silly anecdote. SmsÕing has opened up many new opportunities when playing the game, so take advantage of them.

Mental Treatment

Ever wondered what the hell goes on in mental asylums? I have, and most of the things we hear are just the beginning of the disgusting things they do to people in there. They call it medical treatment and its meant to help people, make them right, cure them of their disease and make them normal members of society. Yea right, like a person has ever walked out of a mental institution in better shape than they arrived.

There are all kinds of strange and fucked up treatment so called doctor put patients through. There are antipsychotic drugs which are used to treat psychotic conditions. They are like blunt instrument for the brain and have all kinds of wonderful side effects like lowering the level of dopamine in the brain leading to tremors, shakes and uncontrolled movements, know you know why mental people move the way they do.

Antipsychotic drugs also include side effects like a dry mouth, increase sensitivity to light and that is why mental asylums are always dark and eary, reduce sweating so people may overheat if doing exercise, sedation which why mental patients always look zonked out with a little bit of drool hanging out the side of their mouths.

Lets move on the more gruesome of treatment methods, Electro-Convulsive therapy (ECT) and the good old lobotomy. ECT places electrodes at the temples of the head and delivers an electrical current through the brain with the aim being to produce a seizure. Who the hell thought that this might be good for someone? ECT causes permanent memory loss, limb numbness, confusion, ability to learn becomes minimal and a headache from hell, some people die because if it. I would love to strap one of those doctor people to one of these ECT machines and them ask them write a thesis on their experience, no Dr Plonkhead, thats not a pen itÕs a fork, now why your dirty mouth and finish up.

A lobotomy is intended to calm aggressive people down. It is basically the severing of the frontal lobe from the rest of the brain. Walter Freeman a disturbed individual who called himself a doctor was frustrated with the lengthy process that was involved in performing a lobotomy and devised a shorter method, which involved using only local anesthetic and an ice pick being malleted through the thin bone behind the eye, and into the brain. He then swirled it around like a wanna be music conductor turning the frontal lobe into mash potato. This nut head even had his students time him to see of he could break his record.

More than 18 000 lobotomies were preformed in the US between 1939 and 1951. The then called USSR banned it in 1940 based on moral grounds. Funny, the US always believed that the Russians were the savages. Many people who only had minor problems and who would not even be considered mentally ill, found themselves victims to lobotomies. It is far from a cure for mental illness and more like method of creating emotionless, drooling human zombies.

Its not surprising that mental institutions are always depicted as dark, loomy abandoned places in movies. When you think of all the underground experiments that go on behind those doors, it sends the hairs on you back pointing strait up. WhatÕs worse is that many of the people who find themselves locked behind those doors will never be normal again, between the drugs and the other physiological experimental treatments that are put through, they might has well have shot themselves the day they were admitted.

Las Vegas

Recently returned from a last minute trip to the infamous Sin City. I must admit itÕs definitely my kinda place.

Action 24-7. There always seems to be a party somewhere. If you get a little bored, head a little way down the road, and whadaya know, something else to do. I donÕt think I got more than one or two hours sleep a night.

Hit a few of the shows. They were pretty awesome. The showgirls made it all worthwhile. ItÕs not often you get to see so many hot bods and perky tits all in one place (and at the same time I might add). Went to see the Celine Dion Show as well. Even though IÕm not the biggest Celine fan, I must say it was pretty cool.

It doesnÕt surprise me that a large potion of the U.S. population is over weight. By my own estimate IÕd say that about 80% of the people have a wee (in some cases not so wee) weight problemo. The portions of food are unbelievable. Ridiculous actually. I ordered a roast beef sandwich and it must have had half a kilogram of meat in it. In most cases you wonÕt see someone leave a scrap of food on their plate. Even kids of 10 or 11 order adult portions (which could probably feed 4 people) and finish it on their own. Makes me feel sick if I think about it for too long.

So now you may be thinking ŅAmerican chicks are all ugly due to the apparent weight problemÓ. Well in most cases that is true. Majority of the chickies were UUUGGLYY. That, however, is not always the case. There is still the other 20% that arenÕt overweight. It seems there is no middle ground when it comes to looks. The chicks were either butt ugly or FUCKING HOT. Even though the hotties were few and far between, when one appeared I almost fell off my chair. I can honestly say that I officially saw the hottest chick I have ever seen in my entire life while sitting at a bar in the Treasure Island hotel. The image of her has turned me off most other birds on the planet. How can someone be satisfied with what they have knowing that a creature like that exists? I donÕt think I could even have imagined a more perfect chick. So you see, the U.S. isnÕt all that bad when it comes to biatches.

It goes without saying that I visited every casino and hotel on the Vegas Strip. Only an idiot wouldnÕt have. The Hotel CasinoÕs are unbelievable. The hotels are exquisite and the gaming floors are huge. The hotels are so big that they seem small. A casino looks close, and 30 minutes later youÕre still walking there. I even went to see the expo of MonetÕs paintings in the fine arts gallery in the Bellagio (now who would have guessed that I have a bit of culture in me?).

Call me crazy, but I still canÕt decide if I think the Strip looks better during the day or night. I know most people prefer the look at night because of all the lights, etc. But there is something that I really liked about the daytime look and feel of the place.

On each of my trips to America I have been surprised by the friendliness and helpfulness of the people (except the customs officials and passport control). In South Africa everyone is so rude to each other that you forget what its like for strangers to be nice to you. It took a couple of days for me to settle into that way of thinking. In South Africa if a stranger comes up and starts talking to you, you automatically put up your defenses. People here are likely to stab you in the back or rob you at the first chance they get.

Vegas was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. ItÕs definitely a place you have to see at least once in your life.

It Fits, O My Hat

Generally men are the larger gender. They have longer legs, longer arms, wider bodies and bigger hands and feet. They are taller, heavier, and stronger and eat more but there is of course the exception when a man is small and his girlfriend large. There are times when it looks like sheÕll be the one to carry him over the threshold or carry the luggage to the car, but this is the exception.

I like my woman smaller than me, hey, call me picky but I could never be the lighter in the relationship or be the one who passes my left over food onto her to finish. Big girls are just not my thing. Here are some of my criteria that if she does not pass, she takes a hike.

Shoe size must be maximum UK 6 or smaller Not more than 1.76m tall, unless she is a super model Must weigh under 65kgÕs 32 B or C or D Hands must be half mine and fingers most definitely thinner than mine. Not even Harry Potter could make my pants fit her and IÕm a 32 My sweater sleeves must be much to long on her

One of the greatest turn offs that I could ever experience would be a girl that could wear my shoes and actually walk in them. IÕm a size UK 10.5 and if she could walk in them that would make her about a Uk 8 or so, yuk man. Or her weight, I weigh 78Kg and if she is within 10kgÕs of me, damn, is she big boned or what. My pants, if they fit her without some kind of huge knot, imagine what her waist looks like, if I wanted to date a man I would.

A woman should fit into the manÕs arms and not the other way round. A man should be the one to swing her around and carry her when her feet are sore, without much effort I might add. He should be the one that takes up most of the bed space and finishes the food in the house. There should be no confusion about whoÕs sneakers are whoÕs when looking in the cupboard and damn man, is she wears my socks they had better look like leg warmers on her.
