Moving Time
The hardware that this blog has been on since the start is getting a bit flakey and generally past its prime. It was suffering to such an extent that the blog has been down for the past couple of weeks.    (Q6Z) I've been saying for a few years that it is time to move the burningchrome.com domain. Now that the hardware is actually failing, I reckon that it is finally time.    (Q70) I'll probably move things by the end of this month. I'll keep the domain, but probably kill some content. Let me know if there's something here...

Antarctica Log
http://www.flickr.com/photos/cdent/357986458/    (Q6U) I think I'm finally done gathering up all my Antarctica pictures and dredging up the memories for some semblance of a travelogue.    (Q6V) For the log I've written a little something for each of the days of the trip. Some entries are longer than others. Most contain links to other pages that do not exist. I plan to fill in the blanks with information on the various penguins, the locations we visited, organizing the trip, details on how we ate, and things like that. I may be some time.    (Q6W)...

Tanuki
http://www.flickr.com/photos/cdent/16193250/    (Q6M) Last night Tanuki passed away. He was away at the special vet for a rhinoscopy to finally get some resolution to or at least some knowledge about his continuous suffering with an always infected, sneezy nose. Sometime overnight, while in recovery after a large unknown foreign body had been removed from his nasal cavities, his brain gave up and he was no longer able to breath on his own. Maybe a stroke, nobody's sure.    (Q6N) Tanuki was always a charmer, from the day we took him home from the shelter surrounded by kittens and cats...

Obligatory iphone post
Iphone is obviously very cool, but I can't help but be a bit disappointed. I wanted to see Apple make a vote for simplicity. I want to see a small phone that is very good at making phone calls.    (Q6A) While complaining about this with Eric he reminded me of the evolution of the ipod: They went in two directions. They became more featured (pictures, video) in some models but they also became smaller and simpler in some other models (mini, shuffle, nano, shuffle gen 2).    (Q6B) I can't wait for the shuffle version of the iphone. The...

Antarctica Trip Log
I've started recording some memories of the trip to Antarctica using a Socialtext workspace. Go there for stories and links to pictures. Let me know if you drop by.    (Q62) For direct links to photos:    (Q66) Tierra del Fuego    (Q67) Drake Passage    (Q68) Arriving Antarctica    (Q69)...

Socialtext Related Blogging
I've started doing my daily work blogging in public over at the Socialtext Open Wiki. This probably means that most of my socialtext, wiki, and collaboration related thought will end up over there. So if you're here for that sort of thing you might want to subscribe to that weblog's feed.    (Q5Z) It lacks, tragically, PurpleNumbers but maybe that will motivate me. I wrote Purple for Kwiki so Purple for Socialtext is not far off. Making it optional in shared spaces may be a bit of a shoot, but things are possible.    (Q60) I am, obviously, back from...

Going to Antarctica
Back in December of 2003 I said:    (Q5P) I want to go Antarctica.  T    (Q5Q) in a posting entitled "I will go to Antarctica".    (Q5R) On December 15th I fly south with friend Sean to hop a boat from Tierra del Fuego to the Antarctic Peninsula to spend nearly two weeks with seals, penguins and about 40 other people on what used to be a Russian research vessel. We'll ride around in Zodiacs, spending some portion of every day on the ice or land.    (Q5S) Sublime.    (Q5T)...

Please Return Boat
Full refund.    (Q5N)...

Boat for Sale. Unused.
The rain stopped.    (Q5M)...

Rain
No sign of let up. Boat build ensues.    (Q5J)...
