The same 'Progressives' who applaud Piss Christ, engage in crude stereotyping of Christians and use 'Jesus' as an expletive even in family programming, react with horror to the mildest slight against Islam. Criticism of Islam in Canada, most European countries and increasingly in the U.S. is considered a form of hate speech. No similar protections are ever extended to Christians. CBS did a noble thing firing Imus today. The world is a little safer now, and I think we all feel good about ourselves. But in their quest to rid the world of Ho-speak, they've only just begun. In order to really clean house, they'll need to divest themselves of the following subsidiaries: Comedy Central, with it's "edgy", "urban" comics. The BET Hip Hop channel MTV -- or maybe they could just convince Snoop and the rest of the guys to substitute "proud, strong, black women" in place of "hos" in their lyrics. . . It could happen. So they fired Don Imus. I never liked him anyway. But the double standard at work in the case is example #14,000,000 that the racial (and gender) system in America contains a sick double standard that chews up some people while rewarding others for the same actions or words. Most times in my life, that wouldn't be news. Since coming back from Ukraine, however, we've struggled. Mostly it was just us being shell-shocked.
