Today, Wolves were embarrassed at home by Black Country rivals West Bromwich Albion in a result that must leave manager Mick McCarthy’s job in doubt. Peter Odemwingie had given West Brom the lead before Steven Fletcher levelled on the stroke of halftime. But it was to be West Brom’s day as goals from Jonas Olsson and Keith Andrews gave them the win, while Odemwingie completed his hat-trick.
Wolves yesterday secured a vital three points, gaining a semblance of revenge for the abject 3-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers at Molineux earlier in the season. QPR took the lead through Bobby Zamora before strike partner Djibril Cissé was sent off. Wolves fought back in the second half, and goals from Matt Jarvis and Kevin Doyle completed the turnaround.
I recently had the privelige of interviewing our club captain after the Liverpool match. He had a hair appointment to go to, but was gracious enough to give me a few minutes of his time.
Last night, Liverpool were the victors at Molineux, with Andy Carroll celebrating a year on Merseyside by opening the scoring. Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt added goals in the second half to wrap up the three points. Sylvan Ebanks-Blake hit the post late on, but Wolves never looked like making a comeback.
Wolves lost an entertaining local derby to Aston Villa, 3-2. Darren Bent gave Villa an early lead, before Wolves hit back with goals from Michael Kightly and David Edwards. It wasn’t to be, though, and a second half double from former wolf Robbie Keane gave Villa the three points. Karl Henry was sent off in the second half for a kick at Marc Albrighton.
Wolves and Birmingham will both head into the fourth round FA Cup draw after a stalemate at St Andrews. Matt Jarvis went closest to winning it, hitting the post late on, but ultimately neither side did enough to force a result.
Today, Wolves went down 2-1 to Chelsea. After Ramires had given Chelsea the lead, Stephen Ward equalised late on. Wolves' joy was to be short lived; Frank Lampard secured the three points for Chelsea just three minutes later.
Wolves are looking to overturn a poor record against Arsenal in recent years. However, given Arsenal's recent run of good form, it may be a step too far for a team who have lost its last five away games.
Last night, Wolves drew 2-2 with Norwich City in a pulsating match. Norwich twice took the lead through former wolf Andrew Surman and Simon Jackson, only to be pegged back by goals from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Ronald Zubar.
Wolves were today defeated 2-1 by their Staffordshire rivals. Wolves took the lead through a Stephen Hunt penalty before a deflected Robert Huth free kick and a far post Peter Crouch header took the points back up the M6.
