Redskins fans are paying close attention to Indianapolis for more than just this week's Super Bowl, yesterday's news about Peyton Manning, would appear to set the stage for a whole lot more news.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported on Thursday that both Dr. Robert Watkins, who performed Manning's neck surgery, and the Indianapolis Colts team neurosurgeon, have given the quarterback a thumbs up to resuming his NFL career.
Let the circus begin.
Of course it remains to be seen if Manning can r...
The North defeated the South 23-13 in the 2012 Senior Bowl. There's a lot to look at when you're watching such an all-star game, perhaps too much for any one person to effectively take notes on and analyze. Solution? Get a bunch of guys to concentrate on one position each and get a much fuller representation of the facts - put them together into one article, and call it the "Senior Bowl Positional Review."

With less than a week to go to the 3pm kickoff at Ladd-Peebles Stadium on Saturday, January 28th, the nation's premier pre-draft event is in full gear this week preparing for the 63rd installment of the Senior Bowl. Over 800 general managers, coaches, scouts and front office personnel from all 32 National Football League teams, are descending on Mobile and the one-of-a-kind event right now.
Considering that ALL 107 players from the 2011 Senior Bowl made their way on to NFL rosters, at least f...
Redskins rookies Roy Helu and Ryan Kerrigan were both named to the Pro Football Weekly/Professional Football Writers of America NFL All-Rookie Team yesterday.
First round pick Kerrigan had a monster rookie season. With 7.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 41 tackles, the linebacker from Purdue was at times dominant in 2011. He played on every snap, a feat nobody else on the defense duplicated, and considering he had no offseason workouts and was playing 'out of position' from where he was drafte...
After ending their fourth straight season in last place in the NFC East, the Redskins approach the 2012 offseason with a lot of decisions to make. Here is a list of key free agents and whether the Redskins should retain them or allow them to leave via free agency.
Keep 'em:
London Fletcher (UFA): In what is becoming an annual ritual, the 14-year veteran was yet again snubbed out of a well-deserving Pro Bowl bid. All he did was lead the NFL in tackles with 166 and put up 1.5 ...
The Redskins will choose in the first ten picks, for the fifth time in the last ten years. The Redskins season ending loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, coupled with a Jacksonville Jaguars win over the Indianapolis Colts, moved Washington up into slot number six in April's NFL Draft. The Jags and the Redskins both finished with identical 5-11 records, but Washington opponents had a lower strength of schedule (first tiebreaker).
Here are the top 10 slots, their win/loss record, and the winning p...
Ever heard the phrase, "The train has left the station?" It is an idiom that means a process is already under way, and there is no point in resisting it. Further to that, it means the time for making objections has passed, and that cooperation in the process is the only option. How fitting is that for newly departed Redskin Ryan Torain?
The 25-year old, third year running back came into the season fresh off the heels of a 2010 season that saw him move into a starting role, and post 742 yards ...
There were some wacky numbers and statistics from the Washington Redskins' wacky, unpredictable 33-26 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Here are some of the most telling:
397 - All-purpose yards for the Redskins, to the Vikings 389 yards - pretty much a stone cold draw.
284 - Yards passing for Rex Grossman on a 26 of 41 day. He had two touchdowns and 1 interception. His performance was as unremarkable as his 89.9 rating, and while the numbers are respectable, they came against one of the leag...
When the mighty 9-3 New England Patriots roll into Fed Ex Field looking for their first ever win in the nation's capital, it's admittedly tough to not see it coming this Sunday against this struggling 4-8 Redskins team. Mired in both a slump, and in turmoil, after losing two of their few remaining offensive bright spots, Washington look vulnerable and in danger of a repeat of the 2007 Pats debacle. Remember that? Bill Belichek's Patriots hung 52 on the Redskins, and handed them their most lopsid...
Here are the pertinent numbers and statistics from the Washington Redskins 34-19 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday:
304 - Total yards for the Redskins, to the Jets 266 yards. Washington led in many of the offensive statistics, but got clobbered on the one that counts - the score. The Redskins ran 71 offensive plays, and the Jets ran 62; they both averaged
221 - Yards passing for Rex Grossman, on an extremely unimpressive 19 for 46 day. He threw his obligatory interception to stretch his...
