Move

I am moving to my new home soon and I have decided that I might as well take this time to move my blog to a new location (oh no - say it isn't so!).  It is so -

I am learning that TypePad is a lot more user friendly for photography users and a lot less technical.  I hope that my mom, Chris, Ryan and Jackie (my four faithful viewers) will follow me to my new location.  You can check it out here.  There's not much there yet, but please give me time.

Is Your Dog Fullfilled?

Now that I have removed Sophie from daycare because it's on the other side of town -- I am thinking, maybe she's no longer fullfilled.

I am not going to spend too much time trying to figure this one out.  But the article in Slate written by Jon Katz does make you think. [Article],  Illustration by Mark Stanaty.

The Beauty of the Thing

This morning NPR did a commentary on the photography of Edward Weston.  What I like best is the beauty of the simplicity, and at the same time complexity, of his photographs.  He truly saw things that most people do not.  Don't just believe what I am saying.  Check out his stuff at NPR.

Been gone too long

No I haven't been on the moon - - but you can see some great shots of the moon at 101-365.  Good job Chris!

I have been trying to find a house to buy.  The thought of buying property below sea  level (ie. in New Orleans) has always bothered me, but I have decided I might as well give in.  I will put more down when I recover from the process.

Strom Thurmand

Strom Thurmand has died... and this is what he stood for.

"We stand for the segregation of the races and the racial integrity of each race; the constitutional right to choose one's associates; to accept private employment without governmental interference, and to earn one's living in any lawful way. We oppose the elimination of segregation, the repeal of miscegenation statutes, the control of private employment by Federal bureaucrats called for by the misnamed civil rights program. We favor home-rule, local self-government and a minimum interference with individual rights."

Just in case anyone forgot.

Can Bush be both a Liar and an Idiot is the Question Raised By Timothy Noah

Timothy Noah's recent article in Slate poses an interesting question.  I have already secretly answered to myself, but I will let others read and decide for themselves.

Lake New Orleans

Here's what New Orleans CBD (Central Business District) looked like after 30 minutes of rain yesterday.  Hmm - - guess it's not a good idea to build a city below sea level.

Fortunately, I was not the brave person shooting this photograph.
