Latest Press Releases from MADD National
"Science speaks for itself. When the legal drinking age is 21, lives are saved and injuries are prevented," said Glynn Birch, national president of MADD.
"Washington raises the bar for the rest of the nation as they have set a goal to eliminate drunk driving, and this demonstration is just one proof of that commitment,” said CEO of MADD Chuck Hurley. “The demonstration brings to life the reality that ignition interlocks are essential to saving lives and preventing needless injuries."
A Department of Justice report released in April 2007 entitled Contacts Between the Police and the Public, reported that African American and Hispanic males are over-represented in the proportion of consent searches and excessive force. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is deeply troubled by the findings in this report.
"MADD’s dedicated volunteers and staff are shining examples of the commitment this organization has to saving lives and protecting our roadways," says Glynn Birch.
The focus of the conference is MADD’s new Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving and the annual Victim/Survivor Tribute, along with discussions on the prevention of underage drinking and more than 50 concurrent training sessions.
"Each new board member brings valued skills and a passion for MADD’s mission," says Chuck Hurley, MADD CEO.
As state highway safety and law enforcement agencies across the nation conduct a major drunk driving crackdown over the next few weeks, their efforts are being highlighted with a massive advertising blitz. The message is clear: if you drive drunk you will be arrested and prosecuted.
We are deeply disappointed in Parade Magazine’s flawed article on the discussions centered around lowering the drinking age.
"MADD is greatly disappointed that drunk driving fatalities are at a 10-year high. Each and every death and injury from this crime is preventable. MADD’s Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving supports enforcement as a deterrent to drunk drivers and makes it impossible for a vehicle to be driven by someone who is drunk. Support us today, support safer roads tomorrow," said Glynn Birch, national president.
We are very pleased with Nissan’s announcement of its concept car. This announcement coupled with the work of Saab and Volvo, along with that of others in the United States and around the world, demonstrates the real possibility of technology helping to eliminate drunk driving.
