The amount of wildfires in Florida this year continues to rise while Alabama has also seen a record number of fires.

For the second time this week... Brush fires are causing problems for people living along the Florida-Alabama border near the town of Seminole.

Alabama Forestry Commission officials this afternoon said they hope to have a wildfire that has burned more than 2,943 acres in west Jefferson County under control by Friday morning.

Dozens of volunteer firefighters teamed with the Alabama Forestry Commission think they've gotten the blaze contained, for the most part - but there are still plenty of hot spots that could flare up at any moment.
