Limestone County school board members approved an array of personnel items during their regular monthly meeting Tuesday in Athens.

Megan Smith of Hartselle and McKenzie Cranston of Tanner and Decatur High School won awards Saturday night at the Distinguished Young Woman of Alabama competition in Montgomery.

The National Weather Service issued a significant weather advisory for Lawrence, Limestone and Morgan counties that extends until 1:30 p.m. Decatur, Priceville, Trinity and Tanner are among the towns in the path of the thunderstorm.
